Before her candid Calgary newborn photography session, Sam’s mom Erin felt a little nervous about having her photo taken. Like many moms, myself included, having your photo taken two weeks postpartum can feel uncomfortable. Despite feeling uncomfortable, I encouraged Erin to get in the frame. Why did I do this? Because, capturing candid photos of the whole family is the most powerful way to tell your child the story of their early life.
Why Choose a Candid Newborn Photography Session?
Right after giving birth, you may be tempted to avoid having your photo taken and focus solely on portraits of your baby. While newborn portraits of babies are adorable, they don’t tell the whole story. Capturing candid newborn photos that focus on family relationships tell more of your family’s story. One day, your child will be so excited to see old photos of the home they grew up in. They will be even more excited to see photos where they are held tightly by mom and dad. Seeing three generations together in one photograph is far more valuable than an adorable photo of your baby alone in a basket. Years down the road, the pride and love that radiates from your face in these photographs will mean the world to your child.
Still Feeling Nervous About a Candid Calgary Newborn Photography Session?
Still feeling apprehensive? That’s OK! I totally understand. The good news is I’m here for you! As a photographer, it’s my job to watch the angles and make sure that you look your absolute best. While the photos I take are candid, they are not strictly documentary. This means I will be giving you direction throughout the session to make sure you look your best. I have lots of experience with posing (hello selfie stick angle!). I promise that I will make you feel beautiful and that you will never see any terrible or unflattering photos!
